Welcome to the month of August!
This month, we are going to dive deep into scripture to learn how to truly walk worthy of the calling God has placed on each of us!
A Prayer for July
Dear Heavenly Father, Thank You for the unique calling You have placed on my life. Help me walk worthy of this calling each day, guiding my steps and filling me with Your Spirit so my actions reflect Your love and grace. May I stay connected to You, bearing good fruit and shining brightly to point others to Your goodness. Let me show love, grace, humility, and gentleness in my interactions, serving and encouraging those around me. Forgive me when I fall short, and give me the courage to honor You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
Walking Worthy of Our Calling
You know, life can get so busy and overwhelming, and it’s easy to forget what we’re really here for. But Paul reminds us in
Ephesians 4:1, “As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.”
What does it even mean to walk worthy of our calling?
Well, think about this: God, the Creator of the universe, has called each of us for a specific purpose. Isn’t that mind-blowing?
He knows us, loves us, and has a unique plan for each of our lives.
Walking worthy means living in a way that reflects the value and honor of that calling.
Living Like We’re Loved
One of the key aspects of walking worthy is recognizing our identity in Christ. We are chosen, loved, and redeemed.
When we truly grasp this, it changes everything. We no longer live for the approval of others because we know we are already approved by the most important One.
Reflect on Colossians 1:10, “So that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God.”
This verse highlights two things: bearing fruit and growing in knowledge.
Bearing fruit means our actions and attitudes reflect Jesus. It’s about kindness, patience, love, and all those good things that come from staying connected to Him.
As we go about our day, let’s ask ourselves a few questions to keep our spiritual antennas tuned in:

Reflection Questions:
- In what specific areas of your life do you feel God is calling you to grow or change to better reflect His love and grace?
- Think about your interactions with others. How can you show more love, humility, and gentleness in your daily relationships?
- Consider the ways you stay connected to God. What steps can you take to deepen your relationship with Him and ensure that your actions bear good fruit?
Walking worthy means showing love and grace to others, just as Jesus did. It means forgiving those who hurt us, helping those in need, and being a light in this often dark world.
It’s about making choices that reflect our faith, even when it’s hard.
