A Prayer for July

Dear Lord, I ask for your wisdom and discernment to navigate this world and recognize the enemy’s deceptions. Guide me by Your Holy Spirit, and help me to see the truth clearly. Protect me frmo falsehood, and empower me to stand firm in Your truth. Thank you for Your ever-present help and protection. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!

Discerning the Enemy in a Modern World

In our journey as Christians, understanding that not all that glitters is gold is crucial, especially in today’s fast-paced, hyper-connected world.

It’s easy to get caught up in the newest trends or the most popular opinions, but remember, the enemy is crafty and often disguises falsehood as truth.

Take social media, for instance.

It can be a fantastic tool for connecting and learning, but it can also be a breeding ground for envy, misinformation, and discontent—modern-day “wolves in sheep’s clothing.”

Or consider the daily news cycle, which can stir up fear and division, tactics the enemy loves to use to distract us from God’s peace and unity.

Paul warned the Ephesian church to put on the full armor of God so they could stand against the devil’s schemes (Ephesians 6:11).

Like them, we need to strap on our spiritual boots and tread carefully, always checking our path with the light of God’s Word.

As we go about our day, let’s ask ourselves a few questions to keep our spiritual antennas tuned in:

Be sure to also read:

Reflection Questions:

  1. How do my interactions on social media affect my spiritual health? Do they uplift me, or do they leave me feeling empty and comparative?
  2. Am I allowing fear from news and media to overshadow my faith in God’s sovereignty? How can I filter what I consume to maintain peace?
  3. What daily habits can I develop to strengthen my discernment? Perhaps setting aside time for Scripture and prayer each morning?

Remember, the goal isn’t to live in fear of being deceived but to walk so closely with Jesus that we naturally steer clear of the enemy’s traps.

Let’s keep our eyes on Him, the author and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2).
