Welcome to the season of Advent!
This month, we are going to dive deep into scripture to prepare our hearts for the Advent season and the coming of the Messiah!
A Prayer for Advent Season
Lord, thank You for this season of Advent, a time to slow down and remember the wonder of Your love. As we enter this time of waiting, help us to quiet our hearts, to seek You earnestly, and to embrace the hope, peace, joy, and love You offer. Let this Advent season be a time of deepening faith and renewed wonder at the gift of Your Son. Amen.
Promises Fulfilled: A Season of Advent
As we enter Advent, we’re invited to step into a season of waiting, reflection, and wonder.
Advent, meaning “coming” or “arrival,” is a time to remember the incredible journey of love that began with a promise and culminated in a humble manger in Bethlehem.
It’s a season to reflect not only on Christ’s first coming as a newborn King but also to look forward with anticipation to His promised return.
In a world that often rushes through December with endless tasks and distractions, Advent calls us to slow down, to pause, and to remember why we celebrate.
This season invites us to sit in the quiet and listen for God’s voice, to rediscover the hope, peace, joy, and love that Jesus brought into the world and that He still brings to us today.
As we light each candle on the Advent wreath, let it be a reminder of the light Jesus brings into our lives.
Let each week of Advent open our hearts to the deeper meaning of Christmas—that God came to be with us, not from a distance, but up close and personal, understanding our joys and struggles alike.
In Jesus, we find a love that transforms and a hope that endures.
This Advent, may we embrace the waiting and draw closer to God, allowing Him to renew our hearts and fill us with His peace.
As we prepare for the celebration of Jesus’ birth, let’s also prepare our hearts to receive His love anew, making room for Him in every part of our lives.
Reflection Questions:
- What does it mean to you personally that God fulfilled His promises through the birth of Jesus? How does this strengthen your trust in God’s faithfulness today?
- Reflecting on the prophecies of a coming Messiah, how does knowing God’s long-term plan for salvation impact your perspective on waiting and trusting Him in your own life?
- The birth of Jesus was announced to humble shepherds and took place in a simple manger. How does this story of humility challenge or inspire you in the way you live and approach others?
- How does Jesus’ title “Emmanuel,” meaning “God with us,” affect your understanding of God’s desire for relationship with you? In what ways have you experienced His presence?
- When you think about Jesus’ role as both Savior and King, how does it influence your view of Him? What are some areas of your life where you feel called to honor Him as your King?
May this season of Advent be filled with a sense of anticipation and peace, knowing that God is with us and that His love is here to meet us right where we are.
