Scripture is literally filled with Bible verses for hope and strength to cling to during difficult times in our lives.
When life’s storms roll in we can often be blindsided by them, it’s easy to feel like we lost all hope and we are floundering weakly through life. But it’s in these seasons that we can find hope and strength in the word of God.
When life’s storms hit it can be so easy to let our focus shift off Him, and in turn we find ourselves hopeless and tossed by the waves. But God calls us to place our hope in Him and find our strength in God.

Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11 NIV
This verse is so well known, and for many easily quoted. But what many people don’t know is that at the time Jeremiah wrote this verse the people of Israel had been living in captivity, and taken from their own land.
This is one of my favorite verses because it comes in the context of even though. Even though I’ve walked away, even though I’ve messed up, even though I am not where I should be God has a plan for me.
It’s so easy to forget this in the midst of the trials were currently walking through, but this Bible verse for hope and strength is a wonderful reminder that no matter what God has a plan and we can hold on to that hope.
Romans 15:13
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:15 NIV
This verse a beautiful reminder that when we come to Jesus we find hope in the midst of our storm.
In this verse we see that God is the root of our hope and in Him we can find hope and strength in any situation we may face.
Romans 12:12
Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Romans 12:12
This verse shows us how we should live, by rejoicing in our hope (Christ) and with patience as we walk through life’s storms because we know that our God is faithful and will never abandon us while praying.
Prayer is a lifeline that connects us to our heavenly father, and it brings this verse full circle- worship, or praise Him for the hope God brings to our life, stay faithful, and pray.
Hebrews 11:1
Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. Hebrews 11:1
This verse is a lovely reminder that even though we can’t see everything God has for us, we can keep our hope firmly planted that our God is faithful.
Isaiah 40:31
but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:31
This is another of my favorite Bible verses that touch on both hope and strength. It’s a beautiful reminder to wait on the Lord, and let His presence renew us.
When we spend time in the presence of God we find ourselves refreshed and refilled and better able to face our day or the storm we are going through.
Romans 8:24-25
For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have? But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently. Romans 8:24-25
Romans 8:24-25 is a wonderful reminder that our hope is in God not the things of this world. We as Christians don’t put our hope in people or things we can see, but in the one who created all.
Psalm 28:7
The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him. Psalm 28:7
This is another beautiful verse that reminds us once again of where our hope and strength comes from.

Isaiah 41:10
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10
This wonderful Bible verse reminds us of where our hope comes from and that our God will never leave us.
It also tells us that our strength comes from God, so when we are looking for strength and hope we need to turn to him.
Ephesians 6:10
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Ephesians 6:10
This verse is another great reminder when we feel weak, or exhausted where our strength comes from. Our strength comes from God.
God is our strength and our hope and when we are going through a hard time God brings His strength and peace into our situation.
Exodus 15:2
The Lord is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will praise him, my father’s God, and I will exalt him. Exodus 15:2
I love how so many Bible verses about hope and strength co-inside with terms like our song. Because so often the way we find strength or even hope is through our praise. It recenters our attention allowing us to find strength and hope.

1 Chronicles 16:11
Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always 1 Chronicles 16:11
Another wonderful verse to remind us how to find strength when life is hard. 1 Chronicles shows us that we need to seek God’s presence not just once but daily and even moment by moment to find His strength.
It’s only through spending time with God that we will find the strength- and the hope that we are searching for.
Deuteronomy 31:6
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6
Deuteronomy 31:6 is a perfect verse to read when you are searching for Bible verses about hope and strength because it reminds us not only to be strong and have courage- both of which are important. But it tells us not to fear for our God goes before us and that He will never leave us.
This verse is a powerful reminder that despite our situation, despite how we feel we can rest assured that our God goes with us and even we feel alone we are firmly held in His hand.
Psalm 59:16
But I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble. Psalm 59:16
Psalm 59:16 is another wonderful reminder of God’s strength and love for us, and when we are searching for peace we find it in Him.
God is our fortress and our refuge in troubled times we can rest assured that our God is control, and more than that He is our hope and our strength.
1 Corinthians 16:13
Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. 1 Corinthians 16:13
This verse is a powerful reminder of how we should be living- standing firm in our faith courageously, and drawing on His strength.
1 Corinthians 16:13 is a quick and simple verse but holds such a powerful message for us all.
Isaiah 40:29
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Isaiah 40:29
Another wonderful reminder of where our strength comes from, and a picture of who our God is. It shows us that despite our circumstances our God cares for us and wants what is best for us.
God gives us strength when we are weary and exhausted, restoring us and caring for us.
Joshua 1:9
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9
This verse paints another great picture of how we should be living. In God’s strength, courageously, and fearless. Not giving in to discouragement, but keeping our faith firmly planted in God.

Psalm 147:11
“The Lord delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love.” Psalm 147:11
This is a wonderful reminder of where we should place our hope- not in the things of this world, but in Christ.

God is our rock and fortress, when all else feels like shifting sand God is our strength and stands vigilant and solid in our lives so that we are not shaken.
1 Timothy 4:10
“That is why we labor and strive, because we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all people, and especially of those who believe.” 1 Timothy 4:10
Yet another wonderful reminder of where we can find hope, but more then that in who our hope should rest.
Lamentations 3:21-23
“Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” Lamenations 3:21-23
This verse in Lamentations is a beautiful picture of why we can have hope. Because of the Lord’s love for us. Because of His great love for us, His compassion never fails.
His compassion for us are new every morning, and never fails. Because of this we can have hope.
Psalm 119:28
My soul is weary with sorrow; strengthen me according to your word. Psalm 119:28
This is another perfect scripture for when you are looking for Bible verses about hope and strength. It shows us that when life is hard, and we feel like we will be overwhelmed God will strengthen us and sustain us.
Philippians 4:13
I can do all this through him who gives me strength. Philippians 4:13
Yet another perfect reminder that in God’s strength we can do all things. Despite our circumstances, He will give us strength and see us through.
Psalm 27:1
The LORD is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid? Psalm 27:1
Psalm 27 is another wonderful scripture that reminds us we don’t have to fear because we belong to God. He is the stronghold in each of our lives.
We have nothing to fear, because of who our God is. Which means we can rest in His strength and find hope in who He is.
Psalm 16:9
Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest secure. Psalm 16:9
When we spend time in God’s presence, our hearts are lightened, and find hope that isn’t tied to the things of this world.
2 Corinthians 12:9-10
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10
This verse is another powerful one to remind us that in our weakness His power is put on full display. It tells us to boast of our weakness so that we may display God’s power in our lives.
When are weak, we are made strong through God’s presence in our life.
Psalm 119:114
You are my refuge and my shield; I have put my hope in your word. Psalm 119:114
These words are a perfect reminder that our God is our hiding place and our shield. And in His word we can find Hope.
He gives us strength when we feel weak, and hope when we feel hopeless.
It’s through the hard seasons in our life that God’s strength is put on full display, and these times stand as a reminder of where our hope lies.
When we come out of one storm, and step into another these moments, and Bible verses about hope and strength remind us of where we can find the hope and strength we so desperately need.
In God we find hope, and in God we find strength for every season of our lives. We don’t just need His strength in the stormy seasons, but every day. We can rest assured that when we place our hope in Him, nothing can shake us.
