What is a good Psalm for a wedding?
Verses about a man and woman being joined together as one spring to mind immediately when we think about verses suitable for a marriage ceremony. Maybe as a runner-up come verses about loving your wife as Christ loves the church.
With that same train of thought comes verses about loving your spouse as your own body.
We could also embrace verses about loving one another and what true love entails. We know true love is patient and kind, it is sacrificial and puts itself second.
True love forgives, overlooks, and remains humble even when wronged. These concepts are lovely and what we need to fashion ourselves after.
But what about a true relationship with God? After all, the strongest marriage is resting on God’s word and in His strength.
Only when we fully embrace and dwell in God’s love can we share that love in the most intimate earthly relationships we have.

Best Psalms for Weddings
While we often turn to the Song of Solomon for romantic Bible verses with their figurative language and symbolism we may not think about David, our mighty warrior, as a good place to look for psalms for weddings.
As I explained above, these are based on David’s intimate relationship with God and his confidence in God’s love. This confidence in God’s love is a pillar in your own intimate earthly relationship.

Responsorial Psalms for Weddings
Another option is to include your guests with a responsorial Psalm. Your minister will read a portion of a Psalm and the congregation will reply with a short line. This interaction brings your guests into the ceremony and gives them an opportunity to bless your unity with God’s words.
Psalm 112 lends itself well to this.
Blessed are those who fear the Lord, who find great delight in his commands. Their children will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed. (vs 1-2)
Congregation responds: Blessed is the man who greatly delights in the Lord’s commands.
Wealth and riches are in their houses, and their righteousness endures forever, Even in darkness light dawns for the upright, (vs 3-4)
Congregation responds: Blessed is the man who greatly delights in the Lord’s commands.
Surely the righteous will never be shaken; they will be remembered forever. They will have no fear of bad news; their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the Lord. (vs 6-7)
Congregation responds: Blessed is the man who greatly delights in the Lord’s commands.
Their hearts are secure, they will have no fear; in the end they will look in triumph on their foes. They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor, their righteousness endures forever; their horn will be lifted high in honor. (vs 8-9)
Congregation responds: Blessed is the man who greatly delights in the Lord’s commands.
Psalm 145 is another great responsorial wedding Psalm.
The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love. The Lord is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made. (vs 8-9)
Congregation responds: How good is the Lord to all.
All your works praise you, Lord; your faithful people extol you. They tell of the glory of your kingdom and speak of your might, (vs 10-11)
