What does the Bible say about setting goals? There is actually quite a bit of discussion of goals in the Bible!
The truth is that God WANTS us to be successful in our endeavors – His plans are for us to prosper and have a successful and fruitful future!
But we must understand that our future goals need to honor HIM, not ourselves. When we set goals that help others, we are doing God’s work and, for that, He will pave the way to success!
Jeremiah 29:11
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11 NIV
Philippians 2:3-4
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. Philippians 2:3-4 NIV
Proverbs 16:3
Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established. Proverbs 16:3 ESV
When we are focused on reaching goals that are meant to glorify God, He will guide us toward success!

Habakkuk 2:2-3

John 5:30

We should always seek counsel from God (through prayer) to ensure that we’ve set the goals God planned for us and that we aren’t just setting our own selfish ones.
