Goodbye Yesterday Bible Reading Plan

This month we are diving into scripture to learn about saying goodbye to yesterday—letting go of past mistakes, regrets, and burdens so we can fully embrace the freedom, hope, and purpose God has for us today.

Whether it’s forgiveness, healing, or simply learning to trust God with what we can’t change, this journey is all about stepping into the fresh start He offers us each day.

Let’s move forward in faith, leaving yesterday where it belongs and embracing the life God has planned for us.

Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 3:13-14 NIV)

A Prayer for the Month:

Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of a new day and the fresh mercies You pour out every morning. Today, I choose to let go of the burdens, regrets, and mistakes of yesterday, placing them at Your feet. Help me to trust in Your forgiveness, grace, and ability to redeem all things for good. Fill my heart with peace as I release the past and embrace the newness You offer. Guide me forward with hope and courage, resting in the promise that Your plans for me are good. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

Saying Goodbye to Yesterday

Following Jesus means stepping into a life of freedom, hope, and purpose—a life where the past no longer defines us.

Saying goodbye to yesterday isn’t about pretending the past didn’t happen; it’s about trusting that God has already covered it with His grace.

When we choose to follow Jesus, we’re given a new identity in Him.

As 2 Corinthians 5:17 reminds us, “If anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”

This truth means that we don’t have to carry the weight of regret, shame, or mistakes. Instead, we’re free to walk forward, knowing that we are deeply loved, fully forgiven, and made brand new.

But let’s be honest—it’s not always easy to let go of the past. We may find ourselves clinging to old patterns, hurts, or doubts.

Yet Jesus invites us to release those things and embrace the life He’s prepared for us. His mercies are new every morning, and His plans for us are good.

When we leave yesterday behind, we make room to grow, to trust, and to experience the fullness of God’s promises.

So, take a deep breath, let go of what’s behind you, and step boldly into the new identity you have in Christ.

God is doing a new thing in your life—are you ready to embrace it?
