What is a Scripture Writing Plan

Scripture writing is such a fun and creative way to meditate on each verse as you pray and ask God to reveal what He wants you to learn from it.

If you’ve never tried a Scripture writing plan, you might be wondering what exactly it is.

Well, as the name implies, it is literally a monthly plan – a list of verses – to write out each day of the month. Verse memorization is a great way to keep the word of God with you at all times. Writing out these daily verses a few times will help you remember them throughout the day or when you need a reminder.

You can find a writing plan on just about any topic that you want to dive deeper into.

But it is more than just writing it out! Before you begin to write out the verse of scripture, read it out loud and pray to ask God to open your heart to receive what He wants you to learn from it.

Some scripture writing plans also include a reflection worksheet that you can use to help you meditate on each verse.

But even without a worksheet being provided, you can simply write out and answer these questions in your scripture writing journal that day:

  • What does this verse mean to me?
  • How can I apply this verse of scripture to my life?

What is the Purpose of Scripture Writing

The purpose of a scripture writing plan is simple.

Verse memorization doesn’t come easy for everyone. Some will simply say a verse over and over.

But others have found that by writing the verse out and meditating on it, they are much more likely to actually remember that verse and what it means.

Scripture writing is a simple, yet powerful way to take your spiritual journey to the next level from what it has been.

Monthly Scripture Writing Plans

There are lots of different ways to create a scripture writing plan. I prefer topical study plans because I can dive deeper into a specific subject that I’m interested in learning more about.

If you’ve never tried scripture writing, or are simply looking for some new scripture writing plans to dive into, I’ve created 12 separate plans on different topical themes.

You can download each one individually below, or you can download all of them as a pdf file.

February Scripture Writing Plan

Our February Scripture writing plan focuses on the topic of No Greater Love because His love is above all others and there truly is nothing better!

God’s love is unconditional, which means it doesn’t change based on our actions or who we are. He loves us just the same as he does others.

God’s love never wavers–even when we sin or stray away from him–and his love will always find us again if we turn back to Him for forgiveness and guidance.

March Scripture Writing Plan

Our March Scripture writing plan is all about My Identity in Christ!

In an Instagram-crazy world, it is so important that we remember who we are in God’s eyes.

Our identity comes from Him – not from our social media status, not from our jobs, not from our physical attributes.

When you truly know who you are in Christ, you can stand confident in your faith and tackle all the enemy throws at you!

April Scripture Writing Plan

Our April Scripture Writing Plan – He is Risen – focuses on the death and resurrection of Jesus!

Amidst the Easter egg hunts and celebrations, we must always remember the true reason for this holiday season.

Because of His sacrifice, we are forgiven and our slate of sin is wiped clean!

May Scripture Writing Plan

Our May Scripture Writing Plan – Learning to Trust – helps us dive deep and see that God is faithful and we can trust Him.

We all have a need to trust. Trusting is an innate human instinct.

It can be difficult to do on your own, but it’s not impossible. Learn how to trust God in every aspect of life while also providing practical ways that you can learn how to trust as well.

June Scripture Writing Plan

Our June Scripture Writing Plan – Dealing with the Enemy – is meant to help you learn how to deal with the many adversaries that you will encounter in your life on a daily basis.

July Scripture Writing Plan

Our July Scripture Writing Plan is all about our Freedom in Christ!

As believers, we are called out of bondage into freedom!

It’s not easy but with Jesus as your guide, you will find some peace in knowing that no matter what happens he has got you covered.

August Scripture Writing Plan

Our August Scripture Writing Plan will help you meditate on God’s promise that you are never alone because He is always there.

He will never leave or forsake you and you can always turn to Him when you are feeling empty or hopeless.

September Scripture Writing Plan

Our September Scripture Writing Plan is all about meditating on the Fruits of the Spirit!

Do you want to live a life full of these fruits?

Jesus wants you to have this kind of life! He came so you could have abundant life in Him.

These are all qualities we should be living out on a daily basis and not just when we feel like it or when someone needs help.

We should be walking in them every day because they are good for us spiritually and emotionally.

Let’s start today by reflecting on what each one means and then start living them out in our lives!

October Scripture Writing Plan

Our October Scripture Reading Plan is all about overcoming fear so you can live fully in Christ!

Fear is a liar! And fear is a tactic the enemy uses to keep us from reaching our God-given potential in life.

God wants us to be fearless and stand tall against the enemy so we can live more fully in Him!

November Scripture Writing Plan

Our November Scripture Writing Plan is all about cultivating a Heart of Thanksgiving.

In the midst of life’s difficulties and struggles, Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on what we are grateful for.

Instead of focusing on what might be missing, learn how to cultivate a heart for thanksgiving and gratitude to God for all He has done in our lives.

December Scripture Writing Plan

Our December Scripture Writing Plan is all about the Story of Christmas!

As we set out this month to enjoy the gifts and celebrations, we must also take time to reflect on the true reason for this holiday season and meditate on the birth of our Savior – Jesus Christ!

There are so many benefits of scripture writing! I hope you found a list of scriptures above that you can get started with.

Use them to create daily Bible study habits that will help you spend more quality time in God’s Word and actually remember it!

I pray your scripture writing journey opens your eyes to new things from God’s amazing word!
