Monthly Traffic and Income Report

I recently started two new Christian blogs and decided to start sharing my monthly traffic and income reports for them in an effort to encourage you in your own journey.

I used to think income reports were a bit tacky because most bloggers that share them report super-high earnings – which seem totally unattainable as a newer blogger.

But since these sites are literally brand new, I want to share this journey with you so you can see the natural progression for both traffic and income.

Hopefully, this will encourage you to see that success isn’t an overnight thing and to see the slow and steady progression you can expect – as long as you’ve taken the time to learn and implement SEO.

Bible Study Printables

I launched this site in May of this year. I do NOT promote it anywhere. That means I do not have any social media profiles set up for it, nor do I share the posts on my own social media.

I do have social sharing buttons in the content and readers do share it from there – but I do not actively promote it on social media myself.

Here is a screenshot of my October traffic stats from Google Analytics.

And here is a breakdown of where that traffic came from. It is important to note that approximately 85% of my traffic comes directly from organic searches (Yahoo, Bing, Google, etc) and VERY LITTLE comes from social media/Pinterest.

This past month, I did start including a link to the site in my weekly Kingdom Bloggers email. Here is a snapshot of my monthly traffic reports since the first month it launched.

The growth has been steady and each month is more than double what the prior month was for total sessions. This is the kind of organic growth that sets your Christian blog up for long-term, sustainable growth!

What About Income?

As of today, this site is approximately 6 months old. For the most part, I’m not worrying about monetizing this site. My main goal is traffic so I can, eventually, apply for Mediavine.

But, I am an affiliate for my Christian bloggers who offer affiliate programs for their printable products. Some posts do have their links, but others simply have an Amazon link.

So far, I have made a few sales of the products from other bloggers. And below you can see a screenshot of my Amazon commissions for the month. The klf173 tracking ID is for Kingdom Bloggers, but the second one is the amount of total commissions generated just from the Bible Study Printables site.

It is important to note that Amazon has a very low payout so it is important to learn how to use Amazon links for maximum earnings. But $14 for a site that is less than 6 months old is a pretty great start!

Pray for Everything

I launched this site in mid-August. One thing about how I went about launching this site is that I had about 15 drafts ready to publish the week of the launch. This enabled me to publish 2-3 posts per day that first week.

Why is this important to note? Because it gave search engines PLENTY of content to work with from the start. Instead of launching with just one post, then publishing something new each week, I literally flooded search engines with a LOT of content all at once.

And it has paid off! Here is a snapshot of my traffic reports since the site went live in August.

And here is the screenshot of the October numbers from Google Analytics:

As you can see in the image above, the MAJORITY of my traffic is coming from organic searches via Yahoo, Bing, Google, etc.

Since this site is mostly a contributor (guest post) site, the writers do share the post on their own social channels after it is published – but I do not promote it myself.

What about income?

I do have one Amazon link in each post, however, I have not yet had any commissions from them. Other than that, I haven’t really focused on monetizing this site at this time. My main goal, like with the other site, is traffic so I can apply for Mediavine.

Plan for Blogging Success

So, how was I able to have such great organic success in such a short amount of time?

  1. I researched my competitors to find the best keywords (search queries) that people were looking for.
  2. I created a solid site structure with only 3-4 main categories.
  3. I created around 15 drafts BEFORE the site went live and published them all immediately.
  4. I stayed focused on one theme/subcategory at a time until I had at least 5 posts in that theme/subcategory before moving to the next one.
  5. I used a guest post strategy to increase the amount of blog posts I had to publish.
  6. I made sure to go back on put internal links in older posts as newer, related ones were published.
  7. My main goal each day is content, content, content
  8. I kept my blog design to a bare minimum.

I had a solid plan in place before I even hit the “go” button! I had plenty of drafts already waiting to be uploaded and published. I also didnt’ worry about all the aesthetics of how the site looked. I used a very basic layout with the Astra Pro theme.

My main focus was simply publishing as much (SEO-optimized) content as I could in that first month.

Now I have over 50 posts on each site and I’m not concerned with needing to publish new content each week. I can spend that time working on updating older content on Kingdom Bloggers (and some other projects) and just let those 50 posts start getting indexed!

The biggest mistakes most bloggers make include:

I’ll be sharing this (with updates) the first week of each month so you can follow the progress for both of the sites.

By the way, if you’d like to check them out and see how they are laid out:
