Resurrection from the dead is the most profound and awe-inspiring miracles recorded in the Bible.
You are familiar with the obvious story of Jesus’ resurrection. And you may also know the one about Lazarus.
But there are actually eight more that you may not be familiar with!

Jesus Himself
The story of Jesus’ resurrection is found in the Gospels: (Matthew 28; Mark 16; Luke 24; John 20-21)
He was crucified, died, and was buried. On the third day, He rose from the dead, appearing first to Mary Magdalene and then to His disciples.
His resurrection is the cornerstone of Christian faith, signifying victory over sin and death.

The Widow’s Son at Zarephath
This story is found in 1 Kings 17:17-24.
During a severe drought, the prophet Elijah stayed with a widow and her son in Zarephath.
The widow’s son fell ill and died. Elijah prayed earnestly to God, stretched himself upon the child three times, and the child was brought back to life.

The Shunammite Woman’s Son
This story can be found in 2 Kings 4:18-37.
The prophet Elisha often visited a Shunammite woman who had kindly provided him a place to stay.
When her son died suddenly, she sought Elisha’s help. Elisha prayed to God and stretched himself upon the child, and the child was revived.

The Man Thrown into Elisha’s Tomb
This story is found in 2 Kings 13:20-21.
After Elisha died and was buried, some men were burying another man when they saw a band of raiders.
In their haste, they threw the dead man into Elisha’s tomb. When the man’s body touched Elisha’s bones, he came back to life and stood up on his feet.

This story is found in Luke 7:11-17.
As Jesus approached the town of Nain, he encountered a funeral procession for the only son of a widow.
Moved with compassion, Jesus touched the bier and said, “Young man, I say to you, arise.”
The young man sat up and began to speak, and Jesus gave him back to his mother.

Jairus’ Daughter

Jairus, a synagogue leader, begged Jesus to heal his dying daughter.
Before they reached his house, word came that the girl had died. Jesus continued to the house, took the girl by the hand, and said, “Little girl, I say to you, get up!”

Lazarus
The story of Lazarus’ resurrection is found in John 11:1-44.
Lazarus, a dear friend of Jesus, fell ill and died. Jesus arrived at Lazarus’s tomb four days after his burial.

Many Saints in Jerusalem
Ths story is found in Matthew 27:50-53. (Note: This refers to a group rather than an individual, but it is counted as one event)
When Jesus died on the cross, the earth shook, rocks split, and tombs broke open.
Many holy people who had died were raised to life. They came out of the tombs after Jesus’ resurrection and went into the holy city, appearing to many people.

Tabitha (Dorcas)
This story is found in Acts 9:36-42.
Tabitha, also known as Dorcas, was a beloved disciple in Joppa known for her good works and acts of charity.
She became ill and died. The believers sent for Peter, who came and prayed. Peter said, “Tabitha, get up,” and she opened her eyes and sat up.

Eutychus
This final resurrection story is found in Acts 20:7-12.
During a long sermon by Paul, a young man named Eutychus fell asleep and fell from a third-story window, dying from the fall.
Paul went down, embraced him, and declared that he was alive. Eutychus was taken home alive and well, to the great comfort of the believers.
