“I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never die.” John 11:25
What is the meaning of Easter?
Easter is when Jesus Christ died on the cross and rose again on the 3rd day. That’s probably how a lot of believers would sum it up, but it means so much more.
Let me tell you what Easter means to me. This is one of the times when I reflect on what Jesus did for me. I think about the crown of thorns that was put on His head that pierced through His flesh for my peace of mind. I think about the whipping that He took on his back for my sickness, pain, and health.
I think about the nails that they put in His hands and his feet. I think about His blood that was shed for me to wash away my sins. I also think about the 3rd day…what we call Resurrection Sunday! That is when Jesus defeated death.
The Holy Spirit raised Jesus from the dead. Jesus went to hell, and He made a public show of satan. He took the keys of death, hell, and the grave! Because Jesus lives I too will live forever!
Purpose of the resurrection
John 11:25-26 NLT Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never die.”
Because of the resurrection, we know that Jesus conquered death, and when the rapture takes place the Bible says that the dead in Christ will rise first.
Because of the resurrection, we will live forever. It doesn’t matter what life brings…the resurrection gives us hope for the future.
It also shows us the power of the Holy Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead. Romans 8:11 NLT The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, He will give life to your mortal bodies by the same Spirit living within you.
You have the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead inside of you! That means that you have the power to overcome anything that satan sends your way.
Remember that through your daily life, we don’t have to put up with any of satan’s mess, we have the power to overcome the works of the devil.
The Importance Of The Cross
Without Jesus’ death and resurrection, there would be no forgiveness of sin. (1 Corinthians 15:14-17 NLT) And if Christ has not been raised, then all our preaching is useless, and your faith is useless. And we apostles would all be lying about God for we have said that God raised Christ from the grave.
But that can’t be true if there is no resurrection of the dead. And if there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ has not been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, then your faith is useless and you are still guilty of your sins.
Praise the Lord that we don’t have to imagine a life without the death and resurrection of Christ Jesus. We can live a victorious and prosperous life knowing that our sins are forgiven and that we are on our way to Heaven!
John 10:10 KJV The Thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I have come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
Prayer
Heavenly Father thank you for loving me so much that you sent Jesus to die for me, help me to always remember the importance of the cross, and to apply the blood of Jesus to my life. Jesus thank you for your obedience, your love, and your sacrifice so that I could have eternal life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
