23 Bible Verses for Hope and Healing

We often take being healthy and strong for granted until we become ill and realize just how priceless health is. As Christians, when we get sick we need to look to God and ask him to heal up and make us well again.

In these 23 Bible verses about hope and healing, we learn how to patiently wait on God to heal us and lean on him for strength and encouragement when we are in pain.

Sicknesses and diseases are never pleasant and can even draw us further from God because we wonder how a loving God would allow this to happen to us and those we love.

But we need to remember that God has his ways and thoughts which are higher than ours. God used something as painful, excruciating, and devastating as Jesus on the cross to bring us the salvation we enjoy today.

We may not know why God allows us to go through sicknesses but we can trust in His goodness, faithfulness, and unfailing love. When we know God’s character, we can trust his ways and wait patiently for him to heal us.

Why Turn to the Bible When We Need Hope and Healing?

When we need healing, we turn to the Bible because in it we find words of strength, comfort, and hope. God’s word can heal us from pain. Even doctors encourage their patients to think and speak positively to help them get better.

My child, pay attention to what I say. Listen carefully to my words. Don’t lose sight of them. Let them penetrate deep into your heart, for they bring life to those who find them, and healing to their whole body. Proverbs 4:20-22 NLT

When you’re in pain and you read the Bible, you get encouragement that what you’re going through is temporary and that in God’s time, you will feel better again.

Reading God’s word grows our faith and helps us put our trust in God for healing to come. In it, we see examples of people Jesus Christ healed from those who were blind, lepers, the deaf, and more. Some of them had been born with the disease and suffered for many years.

The same Jesus Christ who healed those in the Bible can heal us today and that gives us hope and strength.

In the times when we’re sick, we can doubt God’s unfailing love and his presence. Reading the Bible reminds us that God’s love is unconditional and that he will never leave us nor forsake us especially when we’re weak.

Bible Verses for Hope and Healing

Jesus Christ’s purpose was to bring salvation by preaching the good news about God’s kingdom and also bring relief to the sick by restoring their health and strength. This shows us that God is the ultimate healer.

It’s so important to have faith in God’s power. Even when we don’t actually see anything changing, we can still believe that our healing will come.

Our heavenly father does everything using his own ways and in his own time. We submit to His word because we know He is faithful. He will never disappoint those who wait on him.

For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever. 2 Corinthians 4:17-18 NLT

These Bible verses about healing remind us that God has the power to heal us. He is the one who can restore our health again. So, we must pray to him when we’re sick and ask others in the church to pray for us as well.

We are encouraged to rejoice in the hope we have in God. But why would we rejoice when we’re in pain? Because a cheerful heart is a good medicine. Being down and complaining about pain all day can rob us of our strength. It makes us weaker and, at most times, sicker.

When our hope is in God, he will renew our strength physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Even when others tire we will not because we know the God we worship and serve. It’s wise to wait on the Lord patiently trusting him to heal us.
