How long have you been saved and walking with God? I said, “Yes,” to Jesus at the age of 6 which makes over 30 years of salvation. There are days I am so sure God and I are fine, then there are days I question everything. Can you relate? The question we will tackle today is, “Where is God in your life?”

Where Is God in Your Life
What does the everyday flow of your life look like? Each of our lives will look different, but as humans, there are some things that are similar.
- Wake up
- Get ready for the day
- Prepare and eat food
- Work at something
- Wind down from the day
- Go to bed
In the mix of those will be entertainment, hobbies, family time, serving others, etc. If we are all Christians here, another similarity should be spending time with God.
But let me ask instead of assuming, are you spending time with God regularly?
Can I confess something here? I’ve walked with God for over 30 years and it’s just been in the last 10 years that I’ve figured out how to fit God into my busy life – consistently. Having a daily quiet time where prayer and Bible study are my discipline has taken time and sacrifice.
However, as we answer the question, “Where is God in your life?” I can say 100% He has been with me even before I truly committed to the Spiritual disciplines.
That’s right, God is with us, even when we are not doing all the things.
Arguably, it has taken me 20ish years to really start doing all the Christian things people often preached at me.
- Read your Bible every day.
- Pray about everything all the time.
- Fast over the hard parts.
- Tithe to support the church.
- Spend time alone with God in solitude.
- Be grateful even when life is hard.
- Praise God through the storms.
But well before I began doing those things on the regular, God was with me. God was with me through everyday life in really cool ways. He didn’t wait for me to get it right before He kept His promises.
Examples of God in Everyday Life
The truth is that all we have to do is open our eyes and look around us to see examples of God each day. The things that happen that we may think are simply coincidence – nope – that is God!
Wake up in the morning and step outside and look at the beauty of creation all around you in the flowers, birds, and skyline!
Look for God-sightings and you will begin to see that He is right here with you, holding you, protecting you, and waiting for you to seek Him more.
- Notice that God shows His love with the beautiful sunrise and sunset.
- How has He provided for you unexpectedly?
- Where has He shut a door that now you can see would have hurt you?
- When was the last time He spoke something through a song or a friend at just the right time?
- Who has God put in your life to encourage you and help in times of need?
- What passion has God put in your heart that is unique?
- Why are you here, reading this, if not for Him prompting something within you?
How To Experience God in Your Life
God is living and active in your life right now. He didn’t wait for you to choose Him, He chose you. God isn’t waiting for you to be perfect, He is making you more like Him right now. But, we can partner with God in the process and make things easier and better.
“for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5b ESV
There are ways to experience God more in your life, ways to know where He is at work in your life. You want that don’t you? You want to work with God, not against Him, to mature and truly thrive in this Christian life, right? Learning how to experience God in your life is as simple as 1-2-3.
- Look for God expectantly.
- Praise God intentionally.
- Practice the Spiritual Disciplines.
Look for God Expectantly
Earlier I said we should look for God in our everyday lives. God is at work all around you, and the more you seek Him, the more you will find Him. In full disclosure, this is something I learned in Bible School as a child and I love teaching my children.
We take walks every day and expect God-sightings. The children see God in the flowers, in the clouds, in the sound of the birds and crickets. God is seen through nature.
“For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.” Romans 1:20 ESV
God is also seen in the lives of the people in our circle. A friend who texts an encouraging word, a neighbor who brought a meal when we were sick, a song that spoke hope at just the right moment.
These are God-sightings and they grow our faith because the more we see God, the more we know we can trust God. If you long to experience God in your life, look for where He is already at work.
Praise God Intentionally
Now that you are actively looking for God, what do you do once you see God at work? Praise Him. Talk about what you see. Tell others what you saw. Write them in a prayer journal. Maybe even break out into a praise chorus right there.
“Through him then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge his name.” Hebrews 13:15 ESV
The Bible says that God, “inhabits the praises” of His people in Psalm 22:3. That means that when you praise Him, He is there with you. What a beautiful way to experience God’s presence in your everyday life. Praise Him more to be with Him more.
Practice the Spiritual Disciplines
Looking for God and praising God will do wonders to help you grow your faith and experience God in your daily life, but you can go farther. You can intentionally practice the things in Scripture and mature by leaps and bounds.
“Rather, discipline yourself for the purpose of godliness; for bodily training is just slightly beneficial, but godliness is beneficial for all things, since it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.” 1 Timothy 4:7-8 NASB
This goes back to all those Christian things people are always preaching at us. They are considered Spiritual Disciplines and with practice, they can help you more easily see God at work and join Him.

How is God Present in Your Life Today
Where is God in your life? Where is He working? How have you seen Him show up and show off?
Just yesterday God answered a question I’ve been asking for years about my Autistic daughter. He answered it through a blogger’s email of all places! Because I keep my eyes open for Him and never write things off as coincidence, I was able to note the answer and praise Him for it.
How is God present in your life? Take the challenge to spend time this week looking for God-sightings. Write them down, share them on Social Media. As you see examples of God in everyday life you will begin to expect to see Him and then be able to praise Him more easily.
When life is hard, when marriage is tough, when parenting is challenging, when our health is failing or work is stressful, having practiced these 3 steps helps keep our faith strong.
in HIS love, Tiffany
